Despite its
ever-growing popularity, there was a time not so long
ago when JiveOn.com was on the verge of
homelessness. It was destitute and forsaken,
wallowing in it's own malt-liquor vomit and sleeping
on a cold concrete bed in the Watts area of Los
Angeles. Like so many young, aspiring people in this
cruel, hard world of ours, JiveOn.com was a victim
of materialism gone tragically wrong.
You see, the
account at USC that it had called home for its entire
two-year life was getting shut down. Its creators
were struggling to find enough money to properly
shelter themselves and had no hope of providing
similar shelter to their offspring. For all intents and
purposes, the end of JiveOn.com was at hand. Or
was it?
An
up-and-coming ISP in Philadelphia called MartNet came
across the site and thought it worthy of their
resources. They hooked DOPE up with web hosting and
also set up an automated mailing list to handle the
Daily Jive subscriptions. In time, they set up and
maintained Otis, the JiveOn.com server. They provided expert
technical support during the development of the new
page and were ever diligent and patient when it came
to all things Jivey.
MartNet's
prompt, professional service and personal attention
set them apart from all of the bigger, corporate
ISP's.
We hope that
if you are ever in need of internet services, from
mailing lists to shell accounts to web
hosting to PPP
accounts, you'll take the opportunity to check out
and thank the company that we rely on for all our
internet needs:
